Biography

Zentropa and the Danish Film Institute produced Dariusz Steiness feature debut CHARLIE BUTTERFLY in 2002. Dariusz wrote the screenplay in collaboration with the internationally renowned author Klaus Rifbjerg. CHARLIE BUTTERFLY won the Audience Award at Mannheim-Heidelberg Int. Film Festival, the Most Innovative Cinematography Prize in Madrid Madridimagen and was nominated for seven Robert Awards in Denmark.

The following years Dariusz was part of the Zentropa family and with DFI support he wrote and developed three feature films and one TV series. He also had the pleasure and honour of being assisting director on Lars Von Trier’s MANDERLAY and worked as script consultant on ANTICHRIST.

In 2012 Dariusz started his own film company DK Fiction, together with his producer Katrine Hartmann. DK Fiction’s first feature THE LOST ONES had world premiere in 2016 at CPH PIX, the New Danish Talents section.
